Food Industry Courses - Food Hygiene

Basic Food Hygiene - Level 1.
Duration: 1 day.
This certificate is the basic qualification for anybody wanting to understand food hygiene. It is an essential qualification for people working in the food and catering industries. The course provides training to a safe level for those who perform low risk tasks such as clearing tables, maintaining stores, "meals on wheels" and similar duties. This qualification is also relevant to employees working in food factories but more advanced training would be necessary for those working in high risk areas.
Award in Food Safety in Catering - Level 2.
Duration: 1 day.
This qualification is designed for people who handle food working in catering. A food handler is any person, in any type of food business, who handles food, whether open or packaged, including drinks and ice. This qualification may also be appropriate for people who undertake other work in premises where food is handled. For instance, maintenance engineers and delivery personnel should have knowledge of food safety if they are to work in catering premises. The qualification provides a basic knowledge of food hygiene in catering.
Award in Food Safety for Retail - Level 3.
Duration: 1 day.
This qualification is designed for people who handle and/or prepare food within a retail environment. The course covers the handling of wrapped food, handling and preparation of unwrapped food and other important subjects like temperature control requirements. The course is relevant for anyone whose work includes working in food storage areas, hot food preparation, bakeries, with fish, meat, or fresh produce and in service areas.

First Aid Industy Courses

Basic First Aid.
Duration: 1 day.
This course is for employees wishing to learn basic first aid, which qualifies them to act as the Appointed Person in the Workplace. This course is also suitable for those wishing to attend a general first aid course. Candidates must be physically able to carry out the procedures outlined. The certificate is valid for three years.
The course will cover:
- The principles of first aid.
- The role of the first aider.
- Communicating with a casualty.
- Minor conditions including minor cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters. Contents of a first aid kit.
- Reporting and aftercare.
- The unconscious casualty.
- Cardio-pulmanory resuscitation
- Choking. Blood loss and shock
First Aider course.
Duration: 4 days.
This course is for employees wishing to gain a broader knowledge of first aid. Candidates must be physically able to carry out the procedures outlined and must attend all sessions to be eligible for assessment. The certificate is valid for three years.
The course will cover:
- Principles of first aid.
- The role of the first aider.
- Minor conditions including small cuts and grazes, bruises, small splinters.
- Contents of a first aid kit
- Reporting & aftercare
- Blood loss and shock
- Burns & scalds
- Eye injuries
- Fractures & dislocations, including spinal injuries
- Sprains & strains
- Causes of unconsciousnes
- The recovery position
In addition the course will cover a practical guide to major conditions, including:
